Extra Virgin Oil Store Showcases the Flavors of Autumn in New England

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Joining us in the Bender Kitchen today is Stephen Clemente, Owner/Founder of Extra Virgin Oil Store is an artisanal oil and vinegar shop located in Olde Mistick Village in Mystic, CT.  Founded in 2011, Extra Virgin is not a franchise store, they make all of their own products and encourage everyone to go to the shop and taste each product first-hand.

Extra Virgin Oil Store is here today to showcase the flavors of autumn in New England with a toasted and roasted butternut squash and dipping sauce recipe.

Clemente shows the differences between using a grapeseed oil for high-temperature cooking and an olive oil for low-temperature cooking and how the flavor of both oils are enhanced when used correctly.

Different oils have different smoke points, some oils are great for salad, while other oils are great for high-temperature cooking and roasting.
