Shop Small Merchant Series – Becca Rose
Shop Small continues to be an annual shopping tradition — just one part of the larger Shop Small Movement to support small businesses every day and everywhere. Because a visit to our family-owned Village, shoppes, and restaurants not only supports our local economy but also promotes a thriving community.
Your name/relationship to store: Becky Mashuta, owner
How long have you been in the Village? 8 years
How did the idea for your business come about?
After working as a Medical Assistant in Primary Care for 2 years I saw the need for education around natural wellness and alternative healing.
What makes your store so special?
The genuine caring and compassion of our team. Whenever I hear a compliment about the shop the first thing people always say is how kind and wonderful the staff are.
What about your store are you the most proud of?
Again, I have to say my team. They have really made it their own and truly stepped into loving and nurturing the store into what it is today.
What motivates you every day?
Gratitude. Generating a state of gratitude in any given moment truly transforms the way I think, feel and act. When I cause myself to recognize how blessed I am in my life and I allow the feeling of gratitude to lift me up, I feel unstoppable.
What do you like the most about being in the Village?
I love that the village attracts a wide range of customers from locals, to tourists and from couples to families and school-aged kids. It is wonderful seeing people of all walks of life enjoying what the village has to offer.
In what ways does your business give back to the community in and around Mystic?
We participate in a number of charity organizations including Friday’s Dog Rescue, The Unstoppable Foundation, and countless other non-profits.
